ICT
The GCSE ICT qualification provides students with the technical knowledge, skills and understanding needed in a world increasingly dominated by the use of ICT systems.
The study of ICT can lead to careers in ICT management as well as people management, computer programming, database management, website design, website management or graphic design.
The qualification offers students a practical approach to ICT by presenting modules in web design, desktop publishing, multimedia design, and task-based controlled assessment (accounting for 60 percent of the overall grade). It also allows students to enhance ICT related tasks that they are carrying out in other subjects.

Reasons why a student would enjoy this course
Students enjoy the healthy balance of practical and theory classes allowing them to develop a strong knowledge of ICT before applying it to given coursework tasks. Theory classes are delivered using video, case study, group work and practical exercises. Full use of our interactive whiteboards encourage active learning throughout the various topics.
Students are engaged with the use of skills and knowledge developed at key stage 3 to support coursework attainment at GCSE level. The weighting of the assessment allows students to be rewarded for consistent effort in coursework completed across years 11 and 12.
Investigating modern technology also motivates students as they are inquisitive about the latest PC, laptop and mobile technologies.
