COURSE CONTENT
Pupils will have the opportunity to:
- explore issues relating to addiction and help the help that is available
- gain and understanding of charity work and organisations
- explore their own personal identity and how this relates to their personal beliefs
- explore religious traditions within their own community
- discuss issues such as abortion, euthanasia and capital punishment
- examine issue surrounding marriage and divorce
- research the life and biblical teachings of a chosen person of faith
- consider the issues of prejudice and reconciliation within faith traditions
- gain an understanding of the world faiths and a range of religious festivals
ASSESSMENT
By continuous assessment through building a portfolio, pupils will be more motivated and engaged to successfully complete the qualification.
WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR
The OCN NI Level 2 Award and Certificate in Religious Studies are designed for pupils who wish to develop knowledge and understanding in Religious Studies to make sense of religious choices people make in today’s society. It is intended that pupils will develop empathy, respect and awareness of other religious beliefs and cultural diversity.
CAREERS EDUCATION, INFORMATION, ADVICE AND GUIDANCE
The OCN NI Level 2 Award in Religious Studies qualification enables progression to the Level 2 Certificate and from the Level 2 Certificate pupils can progress to further Religious Study qualifications and further learning in this area or into employment.
Religious Studies CCEA Level GCSE LEVEL 2
COURSE CONTENT
In one year of the course pupils will study the life and ministry of Jesus and look at how his life still influences some people today. In the other year, pupils will study a range of moral issues such as equality, matters of life and death, personal and family issues, war and peace.

- There is a single tier of entry
- There are two externally assessed written examinations, each worth 50%

- Religious Studies is a valuable entry qualification to post 16 education and further education. Universities welcome students with Religious Studies onto a variety of courses in Humanities, Arts and Sciences as well as courses in Religious Studies.
- Religious Studies can lead to a variety of careers, for example, in charity organisations, counselling, journalism, libraries, museums, public service, sales and marketing companies, teaching and youth work.
