At Blackwater IC we offer a range of different extra curricular activities for our pupils which we believe is essential to build upon and complement classroom learning. These activities include team sports, dance, youth leaders and homework hub. We also try and offer the opportunity for lunch time activities where possible as many of our students find transport difficult for after school clubs. Activities change at different times of the year and we try where possible to meet the requests of students for popular activities. The College has also put on a Pantomime in recent years and are always looking out for keen musicians and students interested in the Arts

School trips are another important part of school life and we have recently offered Water Sports trips to Spain, Ski trips to Italy and Bulgaria and Language trips to both Paris and Barcelona. This is something we feel enriches student experiences at the College. More local trips through the year include Houses of Parliament in London, Carrickfergus Castle, Belfast Christmas markets, Dundonald Ice Bowl and different trips to reward students as part of our positive behaviour programme.

We have a Youth Club which runs on a Friday night once per month which many students attend in the College. In summer 2021 we also hope to offer a Summer Scheme for both our incoming Year 8 students and current students in Years 9-12 which will also offer a range of indoor and outdoor activities.

We also offer students the opportunity to work as a part of Shared Education collaboration with De la Salle, Downpatrick and St Mary’s, Downpatrick and students have the chance to work with their peers and attend different organised events.
